FAQs

  • In healthy men, testosterone levels between 250 ng/dL and 1000 ng/dL are referred to as “normal.” This is the current accepted range the labs and text books will cite but the story is actually much more complex. As we all know, each individual is unique and a one size fits all strategy cannot be applied to everyone. Since 1980, the average testosterone level of men has been consistently dropping. There are a diverse set of environmental, societal and genetic factors that are likely each playing their role. The current “normal” range also completely fails to factor in, receptor sensitivity, free testosterone and ratios between testosterone, estradiol and DHT.

To provide an example: An individual with type 2 diabetes has insulin resistance. This means that the receptors that insulin acts upon require more insulin to produce the same signal and effect. If you measure insulin levels in these individuals they may be in normal range or even elevated. Dose this mean this individual has good sugar control? Of course not! This can be overcome in two ways. The first is to provide more insulin. The second is to restore sensitivity to those receptors. The end goal we measure is blood sugar levels. By measuring blood insulin levels we are not necessarily well informed about desired outcome in sugar control. In very similar fashion, a man may have normal testosterone levels measured in the blood, but may not be experiencing the desired effect on the end organs, in this case, body composition, libido and mood.

At Jerseyshoretrt, we understand the complexity and individuality that accompanies each consultation. This is why our experts are here to guide you through this journey where conventional medicine has left many abandoned. We will work on balancing hormones as well as restoring receptor sensitivity.

  • Of course! Even if your levels are within normal parameters, there are benefits to optimizing your testosterone levels.

While some men may not technically have a testosterone level that ranks below 300 ng/dLs, they may still experience symptoms of Low Testosterone . Such as diminished sexual function, fluctuations in mood and cognition, abdominal fat and loss of muscle mass.

It is perfectly normal and safe to engage in TRT if you have slightly lower testosterone levels, and simply wish to get them back to levels higher in the normal range

  • To determine a diagnosis of Low T, the medical professionals at Jersey Shore TRT will first confirm your symptoms. Then we will perform a series of simple blood tests. If your total or free testosterone is below the normal range, you may be diagnosed with Low T
